Emerald and diamond ring, circa 1915. This charming ring is set to the centre with an octagonal step-cut Colombian emerald weighing approximately 0.90 carats. The cut of this vibrant green emerald is often known as the ‘emerald cut’, as it was designed specifically to counteract the natural brittleness of emeralds, cutting the corners of the stone and lowering the profile. In combination with an attractive and protective collet setting, this emerald is well-equipped to stand the test of time, perfect as an engagement ring. The diamond-set mount follows this overall outline, and is intricately pierced and applied with millegrain borders, and a beautiful scrolled gallery, revealing the early 20th century date of this beautiful ring.
